This Week at Citizens Options Unlimited (Oct. 4 – Oct. 10, 2024)
We’d like to begin by expressing our sympathies to our friends in the Southeast during this time of turbulent weather. Many people in the Citizens Options Unlimited community have family and friends who have been directly impacted by these storms. We wish everyone a safe and quick recovery.
Helen Kaplan Center Receives Positive Survey
This week, the Helen Kaplan Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) received a positive survey from the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
We are grateful for an amazing team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals, therapists, clinicians, management, and maintenance who constantly go above and beyond.
Randy Cosby Visits Family In Pennsylvania
With Randy Cosby living at the Ontario Avenue residence in Plainview and his mother, sister Liz, and brother-in-law Henry living in Pennsylvania, they had all grown to miss each other.
Manager Tammy Vallancourt and DSP Tyechia David stepped in to help make a family reunion possible. This past weekend, Randy, Tammy, and Tyechia took a day trip to Pennsylvania to visit Randy’s family for lunch. It was a fantastic reunion, and Randy’s mom was thrilled that her son came to see her.
It was a great day of recounting family memories, catching up, and taking family photos that can be cherished forever.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to Tammy and Tyechia at Citizens Options Unlimited for making this heartwarming trip possible!
Getting Ready for All Hallows’ Eve
Our offices are hosting an All Hallows’ Eve Decorating and Costume contest to celebrate all things autumn!
The contest invites staff to decorate their cubicles or office doors with fall-fun decorations or scary delights, whichever they prefer. On Oct. 30, there will be a costume contest. Judges will decide who has the best costume and decorations, and there will be prizes!
We are confident that the Citizens Options Unlimited office in Plainview will be a strong contender, as Peter Hadfield and Tamara Morales worked as a team to make their contribution stand out!
Ghoulish spiders, monsters, pumpkins, and funny pictures on our bulletin board now haunt our Plainview office.
Thank you, Peter and Tamara, for your hard work and creativity! We’re confident that the contest judges will be impressed with what you’ve done.
Help Us Reach Our Goal: “Celebrating 50 Years Of Camp Loyaltown” Fundraiser
Great news! We are already 39% of the way to our $50,000 for an additional water well at Camp Loyaltown. This incredible progress is a testament to the generosity and dedication of our Camp Loyaltown community. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Thanks to the leadership of the Gamell family, every dollar donated up to $25,000 will be matched. The Gamell family has been deeply connected to Camp Loyaltown for over four decades, as Mark Gamell’s sister, Tracy, has been going to camp since the 1970s.
Donate at our fundraising page on the JustGiving Platform.
The $50,000 raised will be used to offset the cost of a new water well. This a vital addition will significantly impact the future of Camp Loyaltown. This will help us continue creating exciting and fulfilling memories for campers for 50 years and beyond.
In addition to donating, we ask community members to share our fundraising page with friends and family. By sharing Camp Loyaltown’s positive impact, you can inspire more people to support our cause.
